Fusiderm B is an antifungal medication used to treat skin infections. It acts by interfering with the synthesis of ergosterol which is essential for fungal cell membranes. This inhibition weakens the membrane structure causing fungal cells to leak and die. The reduction in fungal burden alleviates clinical signs such as itching, redness and scaling. Physiologically the drug disrupts lipid metabolism in the organism leading to decreased ergosterol production. The overall effect is clearance of infection and restoration of normal skin barrier function.

Fusiderm B is a topical antibacterial preparation used in dermatological therapy. Its active ingredient is fusidic acid, a synthetic quinoline derivative that demonstrates activity against gram positive bacteria and certain fungi. Clinically it is applied to treat superficial skin infections such as impetigo and folliculitis. The mechanism of action involves binding to the bacterial ribosomal q site, which prevents translocation during protein synthesis and ultimately leads to bacterial growth inhibition. This inhibition of protein synthesis selectively targets susceptible organisms while sparing human cells because of structural differences in the ribosomal binding site. As a result Fusiderm B provides a localized therapeutic effect with minimal systemic absorption and a low incidence of resistance development.

Fusiderm B can cause mild skin irritation such as redness or a burning sensation at the application site. Some users may experience itching or dryness that typically lasts for a short period. Less commonly it may lead to contact dermatitis with swelling or rash development. Rarely a sensation of warmth or tingling may be felt and is usually temporary. Most reported reactions are mild and often resolve without specific intervention. These side effects are generally infrequent and do not indicate a systemic issue. Persistent irritation may occur in a small number of users.
