Warfarin achieves this by competitively inhibiting the enzyme complex that recycles reduced vitamin k, preventing its reuse. The resulting decrease in active clotting proteins leads to a lower risk of thrombus formation and supports normal blood flow. Clinically, this mechanism translates into a reduced likelihood of stroke, pulmonary embolism, and systemic embolism in patients at risk.
